The tenth episode of Eric's 'Beautiful Space' features the Sofitel Centara Grand Resorts and Villas Hua Hin, a landmark resort famously known as the first beach hotel ever to be built in Thailand. The resort was established in year 1923, and it enjoys a varied and rich history spanning almost a century. This resort had most recently won the coveted Outstanding Conservation award from the Architects Association of Thailand (AAT).
The majestic Sofitel Centara offers world class facilities, as well as refined and personal service standards which harks back to the early days of graceful 18th-century living. This resort features colonial-era architecture and decor themes, as well as 42 private pool villas which feature extensive use of wood painted in refreshing white as well as traditional English touches such as wall trellises, combined with more Thai-oriented carved woodwork.
Eric gives viewers an inside look into one of these private pool villas, and walks us through the plush interiors as well as the cosy and relaxing open deck area featuring a private swimming pool as well as deck chairs and a spacious mattress-lined gazebo.
In this episode, Eric examines the interior design themes that anchor the 'colonial' look, which are wood-decked walls and large windows. Aside from this, Eric provides a helpful tip - to enhance the looks of an interior with monochromatic (single) colour use, make sure to utilise different textures to keep the design and decor interesting.
